Published in Somerset Studio!

My Mom is visiting from northern Canada for a few days so we were able to spend a wonderful Mother's Day together. Lunch at Anthony's Hearthfire Grill here in Bellingham and then off to Barnes & Noble to do some book shopping together. I wandered over to the magazines to see if the May/June Somerset Studio was on sale and lo and behold it was. I was casually leafing through it and something familar caught my eye! I had submitted 2 pieces for the Andrew Lloyd Weber theme in December and one of them was there on page 104. I absolutely love the Phantom of the Opera and this piece was inspired by the feature film. I was so excited I ran up to my Mom and could barely talk as I showed her, what a great moment, not only to be published in their feature magazine but to be able to share it with my mother at the moment I discovered that fact. The husband also had some good karma come his way also, he attended a car show in eastern Washington and had his 1970 Mach 1 Mustang on display, nickname "Prescious", because she is indeed his prescious! He won a 3rd place tropy for best muscle car, stock and restored. It was a great victory for him as there was over 100 cars at the event and he was competing against cars that were very, very expensive. Here is Prescious in all her glory.

My mom is having a good visit, I have taken her to all my favorite spots, the Bakerview Nursery, Dakota Art and best of all my garden! I worked my fanny off the week before she arrived to make sure the yard and garden were looking their best and fortunately the weather has shaped up enough to spend the past couple of days soaking up some sun on our patio. I also wanted to house to look good and we had been planning on selling our giant sectional couch, which was far to large for our living room, so we could get a smaller loveseat and recliner set. A few days before Mom was due to arrive I asked husband to advertise the sectional on Craiglist, thinking it would take a couple of days to sell and we would have time to get new furniture. I grossly underestimated the time it would take to sell leather furniture on Craigslist and 2 hours later it was gone! It is now 2:00pm on a Sunday and all the funiture stores close at 5:oopm so off we go in search of furniture, as our living room is now devoid of ANYTHING to sit on. We did not find a single thing we liked or was in the budget so at that point we are officialy without a couch. So, it was a good thing we have folding lawn chairs......

There is nothing like watching your expensive big screen TV whilst sitting in cheap, flimsy lawn chairs, very white trash. We did find a nice loveseat and recliner before Mom came, but the moral of the story is: DO NOT sell your living room furniture 3 hours before all the stores close and never underestimate the power of Craislist.
